John Muir Specialty Medical Group is seeking a general GI physician to join our Bay Area team in highly desirable Walnut Creek, CA.

You will be joining a well-respected group of general and therapeutic gastroenterologists in an organization with a long-standing presence and strong reputation in the community, state and nation. This position begins with a 1-2-year period as a salaried GI hospitalist and progresses to an outpatient position with some hospital call and a busy ambulatory endoscopy presence.

The hospitalist position enables the newly trained gastroenterologist to practice high quality GI in a state-of-the-art hospital in a community setting with close mentorship, independence and excellent work/life balance. Working with a GI ARNP, a therapeutic endoscopist and an expert team of primary care hospitalists, the GI hospitalist will consult on and perform procedures on inpatients during the day on a 7 day on/7 day off schedule with additional time off for vacation and CME. The 7-day period includes night coverage from home (and rarely requires coming in) Friday through Sunday.
The traditional GI position begins after 1-2 years and includes a balance of clinic and ambulatory endoscopy as well as some hospital coverage. Salary and benefits are generous with significant productivity incentive and opportunity for part ASC ownership.

Qualifications:

• Board Certified/Board Eligible in Gastroenterology
• Graduate from an accredited school of medicine
• Must maintain current CPR and DEA registration
• Must possess or acquire a current unrestricted license to practice in the State of California
• Excellent letters of reference
• Not a J-1 destination
