Overview: Virginia Oncology Associates, the largest group of medical professionals in Hampton Roads and Northeast North Carolina devoted exclusively to cancer care and blood disorders, has an exciting opportunity for an Oncology RN to support our offices located in Suffolk.*Please take this quick survey once you've submitted your resume to complete the application process: Registered Nurse PI Survey Responsibilities: Administers chemotherapy, hydration, and other medications under the direction and supervision of a physicianAssesses and monitors therapy of patients using appropriate technical skills under the direction and supervision of a physicianAssesses patients for changes in condition, including but not limited to abnormal labs, x-rays, scans and drug reactions.
Initiates appropriate action.Performs venipuncture, accesses implanted ports and maintains central venous access devices and alternate delivering systemsMaintains efficient and appropriate patient flowPhone triage as assignedDocuments all elements of careServes as a resource to the Medical AssistantsCommunicates all pertinent information and any interventions to the physician or advanced practice providerAssesses patient and family needs Qualifications: Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education required; BSN preferredOncology experience strongly preferredCurrent RN state license requiredCurrent BCLS certification requiredOCN certification preferredMust be willing to travel between offices as needed.
