Position Description: The Cardiac Cath Tech independently works in the Electrophysiology and Cath Labs assisting the Cardiologists during procedures, analyzes hemodynamics and ECGs, removes sheaths, and uses sterile technique to set up the lab. Work is assigned and performed under occasional direction.
On call is optional, but not required. Minimum Requirements: Must maintain certification as either a 1) Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) via Cardiovascular Credentialing International, 2) Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) via Cardiovascular Credentialing International, or a 3) Registered Technologist (RT) via the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Must be a graduate of an accredited invasive cardiovascular, cardiopulmonary or radiology program.
Previous experience in either EP or Cath is required; experience in both areas is highly preferred. Must maintain current ACLS and BLS licensure. Must successfully be "boarded" within six months of hire date.
Additional Information: Must use initiative and judgment in providing patient care. Responds to emergency situations within the laboratory. Mechanical ability is needed in operating specialty equipment and instruments.
Must maintain mental, visual and aural awareness during laboratory procedures and providing quality care to all patients from young adult to geriatrics. Excellent documentation is required. On call is optional, but not required for this role.
