We are now also designing the next generation of earth imaging satellites and proliferated LEO constellations. Maxar is currently seeking an experienced Software Systems Engineer to be an agile product owner for Maxar's pLEO Augustus program. Expertise is required in software design, and software Agile development processes.

As a Software Systems Engineering Product Owner role, you will apply your systems engineering and agile expertise to a complex pLEO program to ensure software is developed in compliance with program requirements and consistent with the intended mission CONOPS. You will lead the agile engineering team by decomposing requirements to software elements and developing use cases that describe the behavioral model of the software architecture as well as guide verification activities for the flight software. Your product owner role requires prioritizing the work effort of the Agile team, overseeing implementation, driving verification plans and approving test results.

As the Software Systems Product Owner, your role includes coordination and collaboration with customers, other stakeholders, and engineering functions to ensure alignment with contractually required product deliveries and documentation. We are currently seeking candidates with broad systems engineering background in satellite missions, requirements decomposition, verification, and a strong foundation in software engineering. This role will ideally be performed in our Palo Alto, CA or our Westminster Colorado facility; remote workers will also be considered.

Responsibilities:Craft and manage the team roadmap for agile execution of the programEstablish team priorities, and drive execution of an agile teamDecompose mission CONOPS and system-level requirements into use cases, functions, and software element requirements that meet mission intentEstablish verification criteria and plans consistent with system level verification plansGuide the agile software team in the design, development, and verification of the software solution in accordance with the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS)Manage and maintain functional block diagrams & interface diagramsEnsure epic acceptance criteria aligns with mission CONOPS and fulfills verification criteriaTrack and measure team progress with agile metrics reporting and successfully mitigate schedule delaysManage technical dependencies on customer, systems, subsystems and coordinate collaboration across individuals and other teams as appropriatePartner with engineering leads to capture & manage technical risks including contributor & stakeholder risk managementCoordinate downstream internal customer's dependencies on SoftwareManage technical subcontractor(s) or coordinate closely with leads to manage, as appropriateInterface appropriately with PMO, Systems Engineer, Master Scheduler, and CustomerRecognize and manage scope creep on an agile program - effectively differentiating between what must be accomplished and what is nice to haveFoster and grow customer relationshipsContribute to and participate in Gate ReviewsAuthor and deliver systems and software program deliverable documentationMinimum Requirements:Must be a U.S. citizenBachelor's degree Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, related field, or equivalent experienceMinimum of 10 years of related experienceMinimum of 6 (subset of total experience) years of technical management and leadership overseeing complex development efforts (eg, aerospace, defense systems) Experience with industry best practices in Software Engineering and/or Systems EngineeringSystems Engineering experience across multiple interacting hardware and software subsystemsProfessional written, verbal, presentation, and executive communication skillsFamiliarity of Agile execution and tools (eg, Jira or equivalent)Experience on a large agile software development programExperience with spacecraft avionics, including command, data handling, and telemetry5+ years hands-on experience with large scale software architecture, requirement analysis, and design3+ years experience with a requirements management tool(s) such as DOORS, Jama, or RhapsodyFull system/software development lifecycle experience (from contract award to qualification testing to delivery)Preferred Qualifications:In-depth knowledge of one or more satellite subsystem (eg, software, guidance & navigation, command/data handling, propulsion, mechanical, power, RF/Communications)SAFe PO/PM certificationAgile certification(s) such as Leading SAFe, SAFe Practitioner, SAFe for Teams, etc.Familiarity with C/C+ with the ability to interpret code intentExperience with hardware emulation and/or virtual machinesContract Data Requirements List (CDRL) ownership experience, including compliance with DoD and/or NASA requirementsMS degree or PhD in a special field of Engineering or ScienceExperience with NASA, DoD or FAA Software and/or Systems Engineering standardsExperience with software development standards and development methodologies (eg, NASA NPR 7150.

Individual pay will be competitive based on a candidate's unique set of knowledge, skills, and geographic diversity, with earnings potential commensurate with experience. The range for this position is:$137,000.00 - $229,000.00 annually.
