Ochsner Health in New Orleans is seeking a Director of Neonatal Research BC/BE in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine to join our expanding section of certified neonatologists.

Experienced Neonatologists with training or experience as a principle investigator for clinical trials or recent graduates with experience in clinical trials are invited to consider joining our division working alongside a team of experienced neonatal nurse practitioners. At Ochsner, we participate in several multi-center clinical trials and have the support of an in-house Clinical Trials Unit and dedicated NICU research nurse. We are the only hospital in Louisiana to provide both Level IV neonatal and obstetric care at the same facility, Ochsner Baptist Hospital.

Highlights:

Our state-of-the-art 54 bed, level IV NICU was constructed in 2015 and has private rooms for singleton patients as well as multiples. It is the hub for our system of 5 Ochsner NICU's in the New Orleans area. Annual deliveries are growing toward 4,000 and high-risk maternal patients are cared for by our large network of maternal-fetal medicine physicians. Our section of fetal echo is located at Ochsner Baptist Hospital and coordinates care of babies with complex congenital heart diseases. We serve the entire Gulf South region with an established ground and air neonatal transport system. All modes of respiratory support including HFJV and HFOV are available in addition to the use of inhaled nitric oxide. We are supported by one the longest standing ECMO programs in the country. Total body cooling is available for qualified infants. Our team participates in the Vermont Oxford Network, has continuous performance improvement initiatives underway and is ranked by the US News and World Report in three specialties. A full spectrum of pediatric medical and surgical subspecialty support is always available. We offer a competitive compensation package which is commensurate with experience.

The Department of Pediatrics and our pediatric subspecialists (collectively, Ochsner Hospital for Children) represent over 230 pediatric physicians. The group is the regions leading integrated provider of multispecialty care for infants, children, adolescents, and young adults. We offer a full range of pediatric services including bone marrow transplantation, solid organ transplantation, pediatric cardiovascular surgery, and a comprehensive pediatric surgical sub-specialty group, as well as the regions only comprehensive multidisciplinary developmental center. We utilize a 54-bed Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, a 14-bed PICU, a 12-bed pediatric CVICU, a 44-bed pediatric acute unit, a pediatric emergency room, and dedicated, full-time, region-wide in-house pediatric and neonatal transport teams. In December 2023 Ochsner announced the building of a new separate, comprehensive, dedicated Childrens Hospital on our main health sciences campus, with expected opening in 2027. This with further amplify our ability to function as a wide regional quaternary care destination center for Children across the Gulf South and the central US.

Ochsner also maintains 28 primary care locations across southern Louisiana and 30 subspecialty locations (Including the Shaquille ONeal Pediatric Super Clinic in Baton Rouge); and the Boh Center for Child Development, a dedicated multidisciplinary developmental pediatrics center.
