Learn more about this agency ResponsibilitiesThe Extended Care (EC) Intermittent RN is an RN who will utilize the nursing process and evidence based practice in order to develop individual plans of care for patients throughout Lebanon Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Center.
The Intermittent RN is a key member of the multidisciplinary team and is; therefore, responsible for patient advocacy, collaboration with other team members, promoting effective communication, and ethical practice. The RN functions within their scope of practice to provide high quality, direct patient care including patient assessment, documentation, medication administration, and for the delegation of specified tasks to assigned licensed practical nurses (LPNs) and unlicensed assistive personnel. The RN will provide care to the following types of patients: medical/surgical type patients, pre/post-op surgical patients, Veterans receiving chemotherapy and radiation therapy, skilled rehabilitation, life limiting-illnesses, chronic illnesses, etc.
The RN, in collaboration with patients and family members, will build a patient education plan that meets their individual and education needs. Assumes Charge Nurse duties and responsibilities. The EC intermittent RN will be assigned to the Short Stay Rehabilitation Unit, Hospice Unit, and Nursing Home Units, as needed.
