Job Summary and Qualifications

The OR Radiologic Technologist works with limited supervision u nder the general direction of the Administrative Director of Imaging Services, the Imaging Services Medical Director and the Imaging Services Supervisory Team.

What you will do in this role:

  • Complete a wide variety of OR imaging procedures, both on a scheduled and on-call basis, as necessary
  • The majority of responsibilities for this position involves performing imaging exams within the OR Radiology Department but may take place in associated departments such as OR, Vascular Lab, Hybrid OR, etc.
  • Assist with the training/evaluation of Radiology School students, as applicable
  • Be responsible for appropriately interfacing with other departments, physicians, physician office staff, patients, patients' family members and various other visitors to the facility
  • Participate in Performance Improvement and Quality Improvement activities
  • Work within the prescribed guidelines/policies/procedures established by the department, facility and HCA
  • Work in accordance with Joint Commission, State and other regulatory and/or accreditation agencies in the performance of their duties and comply with all safety and infection control guidelines

What qualifications you will need:

  • Graduate or pending graduation within 60 days of hire from an accredited program by the commission on accreditation of allied health education programs, American Medical Association or other accrediting agencies
  • American Registry of Radiology Technology (ARRT) or registry eligible with completion of examination within 6 months of hire to maintain employment
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) within 30 days of hire
  • Minimum of one-year hospital department experience in Diagnostic Radiology and/or completion of accredited Radiology program with relevant clinical experience
  • Minimum of one year in hospital OR department preferred
  • Able to accurately complete radiology examinations as ordered by the referring physicians
  • Experience with Radiology information systems to obtain previous examination reports
  • Able to effectively, efficiently and safely operate various types imaging equipment and associated imaging peripherals (CR, PACS, RIS, etc.), following orientation period to the department.
  • Routine use of office equipment (phone, fax, pagers)
  • Strong interpersonal skills related to being able to communicate effectively, competently and confidently with all individuals (various types of customers, facility colleagues, etc.)
  • Able to handle periods of intensity with calm
  • Able to work in stressful situations while maintaining composure and perform required Imaging Services duties regardless of the patient's condition
