Responsible for the delivery of patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation and care that meets JCAHO, Hospital and other accrediting agencies requirements/standards. Responsible for directing and guiding patient teaching and activities of ancillary personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing. Responsible for acting as a preceptor for new orientees on the nursing unit. The RN is responsible for the interpretation of the physicians written order and dispensing of medications and intravenous solutions for patients in a manner consistent with Federal and State laws. The RN is responsible for auditing charts and gathering information for the performance improvement programs, which are required by the hospital in order to meet the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Hospitals Standards or the hospitals internal PI programs. The RN reports directly to the RN charge nurse or his/her designee and provides daily assignments and makes rounds with physicians. If the RN charge nurse is not available or the position is vacant, the staff RN will assume those responsibilities until a charge nurse is available.

Must be a graduate of an accredited college/nursing program and possess a current valid license as a registered nurse in the State of Arkansas.
