The Neonatologist is responsible for the management of complex illnesses or problems requiring a high level of experience and competence in intensive care of newborns, including ventilation care and advanced life support. This position's responsibilities, includes but is not limited to, newborn medical care and consultation, newborns presenting to Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), consultations for newborns in any area of the Hospital or Deaconess Health System as needed and in addition to serving as an on-call resource for consultation for nursing personnel, local physicians, or physicians from referring hospitals and administration.

The NICU Physician must be a graduate of an accredited school of medicine with completion of an approved Residency; maintain a medical license in the State of Indiana; be a credentialed member of Deaconess Medical Staff; Board certified in Pediatrics and Neonatology; and maintain BLS, NRP certification.
