The Baylor Scott & White Heart Hospital, Denton is currently seeking an experienced Cardiology/TAVR Advanced Practice Professional (APP) to join their growing team, where comprehensive care to patients with a variety of cardiovascular disorders is provided, with a focus upon general and interventional Cardiology, as well as Congestive and Valvular Heart Failure. This position has both inpatient and outpatient components.

This position requires a strong focus on patient care and service. Individuals who are self-motivated, hardworking, detail-oriented, and adhere to clinical protocols are encouraged to apply.

The ideal candidate will provide patient care in a competent, professional, and courteous manner and will maintain effective communication with patients, hospital staff, and referring physicians. The APP will practice in close collaboration with various cardiologists and other consulted providers who will deliver continuing care in the evaluation and management of our cardiac patients. In addition, they will provide medical care based upon the scope of practice and as delineated by the supervising physician. These providers work in a specialty area and may be expected to float between locations in our North Dallas Market.

Shift/Schedule:Monday through Friday, five, eight-hour shifts per week.

Our Denton facility continues our prestigious and highly rated cardiovascular care. The Denton location has become the largest program for open heart surgery in the region. The Society of Thoracic Surgeons has also awarded the hospital with the highest rating for quality and patient outcomes, including three stars for Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting and Aortic Valve Replacement plus CABG. Key responsibilities are:

Assess, diagnose, and create treatment plans for patients with cardiovascular disease processes, independently and in collaboration with the sponsoring cardiologist

Manage acute and chronic cardiovascular conditions, including general/interventional cardiology, congestive heart failure, and valvular heart failure

Care for complex heart failure patients in evaluation for advanced therapies

Evaluate for and recommend appropriate intervention

Perform history and physical consultation to determine appropriate plan of care

Order, collect, interpret, and evaluate laboratory and other diagnostic tests to assess patient problems and health care needs

Supervise stress tests

Provide peer-to-peer consultation for emergency room, hospitalists, and other providers regarding cardiovascular conditions

Monitor patients across the health care continuum and develop strategies to avoid hospitalization and/or decrease length of stay

Provide post procedural care for patients following coronary angioplasty, coronary stenting, cardioversion, and Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR).

Discharge patients from the cardiology/TAVR service line, including the provision of disease specific discharge education and designated follow up

Counsel patients and families regarding medical processes and/or procedures, management of the health illness/condition, medication, nutrition, and health promotion

Counsel patients regarding drug regimens and possible side effects or interactions with other substances such as food supplements, over the counter medications, and herbal remedies.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Graduate of an accredited physician assistant or nurse practitioner program

Inpatient and outpatient cardiology experience, preferred

TAVR experience, ideal

QUALIFICATIONS

The Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner - Cardiology/TAVR, Inpatient/Outpatient is a graduate of an accredited training program and is a licensed, certified, non-physician healthcare provider who actively renders direct patient care and possesses delegated prescriptive authority. The APP is credentialed and privileged, and their services are billed, as recognized by Medicare and Medicaid within the healthcare system, and in accordance with the appropriate board.

CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION

Current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistant (NCCPA), the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board (AANPCB), OR the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC)

Unrestricted Texas Physician Assistant (PA) OR Nurse Practitioner (NP) AGACNP license, Registered Nurse (RN)

Basic Life Support (BLS): Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire or transfer, preferably at the time of start

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 30 days of hire or transfer, preferably at the time of start
