The University of Missouri-Columbia, Department of Medicine is seeking a Division Chief of Gastroenterology and Hepatology. The incoming Division Chief will lead Division contributions to the tripartite academic mission of research, education and clinical service. Leadership opportunities include building and strengthening a large division with specialized services, through clinical and academic programs. Active clinical programs include general GI, advanced therapeutic endoscopy, clinical hepatology, inflammatory bowel diseases and nutritional sciences. NIH- and VA-funded research in the Division centers on metabolic-associated fatty liver and mitochondrial dysfunction, and GI cancers, with a vibrant research environment and collaborations across the University of Missouri. The division hosts three fellowship programs, with twelve fellows.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of demonstrated physician leadership
  • MD/DO, Board-certified in Gastroenterology.
  • Successful completion of an ACGME-accredited GI fellowship.

Overview of the Educational Program

The ACGME-accredited gastroenterology fellowship program has a long history of graduating outstanding gastroenterologists. Graduates of our training program are in private practice and academic programs throughout the country. Our program, which is accredited by the ACGME, is designed to provide opportunities for fellows to develop clinical competence in the broad field of gastroenterology, including hepatology, endoscopy, clinical nutrition, and GI oncology. In keeping with ACGME requirements, a minimum of 18 months of clinical experience is required, including the equivalent of 5 months of hepatology. The other 18 months of training are dedicated to elective fields of clinical training and to research intended to enhance competency.
