Division of Abdominal Surgery

The Division of Abdominal Transplant Surgery at Atrium Health, Carolinas Medical Center is seeking a multiorgan transplant surgeon. The ideal candidate will have experience in adult and pediatric liver, kidney transplant, and live donor nephrectomy and partial hepatectomy. The application for an assistant professor transplant surgeon will include opportunity for research, resident and medical student education and leadership development.

Job requirements

  • Qualified candidates must be BC/BE in General Surgery by the American Board of Surgery.
  • ASTS fellowship training in multi organ transplant to include liver and kidney transplant and multi-organ procurement.
  • Eligible for unrestricted North Carolina medical license.

Atrium Health and the Department of Surgery

The Department of Surgery has 75 full-time clinical faculty and 6 PhD translational and basic science researchers. The Divisions in the Department of Surgery are Abdominal Transplant Surgery, Acute Care Surgery, General and Gastrointestinal (GI) Surgery, Hepatopancreatic and Biliary (HPB) Surgery, Pediatric Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Surgical Oncology, and Urology. LifeShare Carolinas has recently opened a freestanding organ and tissue procurement center.

The Division of Abdominal Transplant is an expanding service including clinical coverage in:

  • Adult and pediatric kidney program
  • Adult and pediatric liver program
  • Normothermic machine perfusion in liver transplant
  • Ex vivo liver resection with auto-implant
  • Simultaneous kidney pancreas transplant
  • Living donor kidney transplant
  • Adult and pediatric dialysis access
  • Transplant Oncology

The Division of Abdominal Transplantation offers conducts clinical outcomes and translational research activities through the recently established Atrium Research on Transplantation .
